Gennaro’s Pizza and Restaurant is located in the Heather’s shopping plaza. Recently an acquaintance raved about how wonderful their Chicken Cacciatore was, so we had to check it out.
Genarro’s has been at their current location for seven years. They originally opened in 1990 in Palm Harbor.
The owners, Joe and Cathy Guardascione are very friendly and make it a point to greet and talk with their customers. The waitress told us that many of their customers are regulars and veal dishes are very popular there.
We ordered the Chicken Cacciatore and a stuffed pizza. The Chicken Cacciatore has a light red wine sauce with green peppers and black olives poured over a chicken breast sauteed with onions and mushrooms. We went with the regular spice even though our friend suggested that we request the spicy version.
The Chicken Cacciatore was excellent. The stuffed pizza comes with your choice of two toppings. We chose to stuff the pizza with sausage and peppers. Portion sizes are very generous, so expect to have lunch the next day.
They offer a wide variety of chicken, veal and seafood dishes, pasta specialties and baked dishes that come with your choice of pasta, salad and garlic knots.
There are many pizza options to choose from- Napolitan thin crust to white vegetable pizza as well as calzones and stromboli. They have seven Philly Steak options, and a number of hot and cold subs.
Gennaro’s has a large dining room, so it can easily accommodate large parties.
If you’re looking to try out an Italian eatery, Gennaro’s is a good option.
