Pizza Villa Italian Restaurant was established in 1988. Chef Danny moved to Hernando from Brooklyn, New York in 1987. Chef Danny had an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn for several years before moving.
Pizza Villa has two locations — one in the Coastal Way Plaza and a standalone building off of Spring Hill Drive.
Pizza Villa serves its namesake pizza along with a full Italian menu. They have a clam or shrimp pizza that sounds interesting. They also carry a number of desserts including cannolis and zeppoles.
Both locations have dining rooms that can handle large parties. The wait staff is friendly and service was prompt.
We tried two of their pizza slices, a calzone, and a stromboli. The calzone comes with mozzarella and ricotta with a side of sauce. We added sausage to it. The stromboli contained sausage, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. It also came with a side of sauce. We really enjoyed the calzone with soft crust stuffed full of ricotta, but surprisingly light.
Pizza Villa also provides catering and takeout. You can find them online at http://www.pizzavillaandrestaurant.com/ or call them on the phone at 352.596.8956 for Coastal Way or 352.684.0184 for the Spring Hill Drive Location.
