There were three outright winners in the primary election: Blaise Ingoglia, Kristie Ruppe, and Linda K. Prescott. To win without a run off the nonpartisan candidates had to receive more than 50% of the vote.
Kristie Ruppe was solidly elected to County Judge. She earned 68.10% of the vote in her race against incumbent Donald M. “Sonny” McCathran Jr.
Linda K. Prescott also had a very strong win, earning the School Board District 2 seat with 59.25% of the votes. She was facing two other candidates Steven Van Gorden and Mario Littman.
Blaise Ingoglia beat out Roy Martin to earn the Republican State Committeeman position. He will be replacing Tom Hogan Sr., who served as Committeeman since 1961.
In addition to these winners, supporters of state a constitutional amendment for an exemption for solar equipment from property taxes are also celebrating. Amendment 4 passed with 73% of the vote.
There were a number of primary winners that will be representing their parties in the November 8th General Election. There were also a nonpartisan school board election where no one receive over 50%, so there will be a runoff between the top two vote getters in the General Election.
For the US Senate race incumbent Marco Rubio will represent the Republicans, while Patrick Murphy will represent the Democrats, and Paul Stanton will represent the Libertarians. This will be a nationally watched race as it could determine who controls the US Senate. There will be enormous amount of money spent on this race.
Daniel Webster beat out Justin Grabelle in Hernando and statewide to win the Republican nomination to represent District 11 in the United States Congress. Webster will face Dave Koller (D) and Bruce Ray Riggs (I) in the general election
The Republican District 1 Board of County Commissioners race between Nick Nicholson, Michael LaRocca and Joe Swilley had a tight finish. Nick Nicholson won by just over 2% or 352 votes over Michael LaRocca. Nicholson will run against Jimmy Lodato (D) in the general election.
Steve Champion beat out Dave Russell in the Republican District 5 Board of County Commissioners race. Voters will choose between Champion and Paul Douglas (D) in the general election.

The School Board District 4 race was not quite as definitive with winner Gus Guadagnino only earning 43% of the vote. In order to avoid a November 8th top two runoff, the primary winner needed to win by more than 50%. William Vonada finished second and will face Guadagnino in the general election.
The general election is only few months away on November 8th. There will be early voting from October 24th through November 5th. The last day to register to vote and still be able to vote in the general election is October 11th.
