Thursday, September 15, 2016, SPRING HILL–Five students campaigned today to become the student representative of the Hernando County School Board.
Allison Zito from Central High School, Kaycee Steinman from Hernando High School, Allison Selg from Nature Coast Technical High School, Toni Pandalfo from Springstead High School, and Alexis Romano from Weeki Wachee High School will all compete for student votes in the upcoming Hernando County Student Council election. The five candidates will spend much of the next week visiting area schools to campaign and listen to the concerns of students.
Allison Zito
Zito is the Senior Representative from Central High School. She has held positions in National Honor Society, student government, and the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. She is currently the Regimental Commander of the NJROTC.
Kaycee Steinman
Steinman is the representative from Hernando High School. She has been the Captain of the Hernando High School Band. Kaycee is Vice President of the Class of 2017, and President of the Rotary Interact Club for the past two years.
Allison Selg
Selg is a Senior at Nature Coast Technical High School. Allison is a National Honors Society President. She has been an active member of student government since 5th grade, was President of her Sophomore class, and she is currently her school’s Student Government President. Allison was also the Nature Coast yearbook editor.
Toni Pandalfo
Pandalfo is the representative from Springstead High School. She is a member of International Baccalaureate Programme, National Beta Club, Interact Club, and National Honors Society. Toni has been a student government officers for four years. She is also involved with sports as a cross country and track runner.
Alexis Romano
Romano is in her second year of student government. She has understudied the current Student Government President and Vice President, and played an active role in this year’s Yearbook Club. Alexis has played varsity golf, been a member of the Academic Team, volunteered for United Way, all while keeping a 4.1 GPA.
Hernando County’s Superintendent of Schools, Lori Romano, Ph.D said of the five candidates “I am very impressed with their wanting to unify the community, wanting to develop and support really good communication. They’re giving back to students who are younger than they are to really grow and build leadership. I’m just extremely impressed. ”
The election will be held at 9 AM on Friday, September 23rd at the Springstead Theater located at 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34608. All are welcome to attend.
