The act of giving without the expectation of something in return is the true definition of kindness,” quoted West Hernando Middle School Principal Lori Lessley. During a recent visit to the school, Board Member Mark Johnson and Lessley discussed the student-built fountain which has not been running for years. The school has not had funds to repair the fountain.

“I know a guy who will help,” said Johnson, and within a few weeks, the fountain area was cleaned out with the help of volunteers from the community, school employees, and parents. Another team of volunteers from the Kiwanis Club got the fountain running.

Lessley expressed her gratitude for “the very hard and messy work…done by some very kind and generous people.” She presented the volunteers present with a letter of thanks and a photograph.
