The Cove in Hernando Beach has a large outdoor bar with tabletop seating. This area is a venue for local musicians.
They also have a large indoor dining area. The walls of the dining area are covered the work of a local artist. The canal behind the restaurant is home to a medium sized alligator, who often makes an appearance.
The inside of the restaurant there is a combination of vinyl covered booths, chairs and tables. The place has a casual feel although the prices of food are on the higher end. They have a full bar, so you can pair your meal with a mixed drink if you so desire.
We ordered Hawaiian Pork Chops, Seared Ahi Tuna, the kid’s fish, and the Brunswick Stew. The entrees came with a side salad of mixed greens.
The Hawaiian style marinated pork chops, which are pork chops marinated in pineapple for 24 hours before being grilled are a favorite at the Cove.
It is easy to see why they are popular. The pineapple and pork are an excellent combination.
The pork chops came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes which were very flavorful and creamy.
Seared Ahi Tuna is tuna steak seared on the outside and raw on the inside and encrusted with Sesame Seeds with a Teriyaki Balsamic Glaze. It comes with wasabi, ginger, and spicy sauce that can be added to the seared tuna piece. This also came with a side of black beans and yellow rice.
The kid’s fish can be fried or grilled. We chose the grilled the fish which was served with a tasty tartar sauce. The Brunswick Stew was made with baked beans, pulled pork and lots of vegetables. It was on the sweet side which the kids enjoyed.
