(Brooksville, FL) At its September 20, 2016 final budget hearing, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) adopted the following final budget and millage rates.

The total FY2017 county budget was approved at $414,118,539. This is a 3.68 percent decrease from FY2016.

The General Fund portion was set at $103,585,994, which is a 2.25 percent increase from FY2016. The increase will cover the rising costs associated with required state mandates, union contracts and health insurance. The General Fund includes the Clerk of Court, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector, Sheriff’s Office and programs and services provided by the BOCC including animal services, parks and recreation, facilities management, libraries, health and human services, economic development, veterans services, code enforcement, planning, zoning, extension services, administration and more.

Outside of the General Fund, the BOCC is also responsible for enterprise and special revenue departments; some of which include, public works, utilities, solid waste, airport, fire/rescue and building services.

• Stormwater Management MSTU – 0.1139
