Relationships, Not Religion- That’s the message Pastor Samuel Cruz of Iglesia Fuente de Salvacion wants people to understand. Relationship with Christ and with each other. Pastor Cruz is passionate about spreading the message of Christ’s Love and believes that many “Christians” get so bogged down with rules and regulations that they lose touch with the original message. He believes that many churches –even in Hernando County- try so hard to look like Christians that they end up forgetting the most important principals: Loving God above all else and loving your neighbor as yourself.

Iglesia Fuente de Salvacion is located at 11124 Libby Rd, Spring Hill 34609 (in the Famous Tate Plaza) off of Mariner. Service is on Sunday at 11 am and Bible study is 7pm on Wednesday. Even though this is primarily a Spanish-speaking church, they are true to the Word of God and accept everyone. I attended out of curiosity last May and they made sure to have an interpreter there for me from that day forward. Unlike other churches, you don’t have to go through some lengthy “Membership” process or commit to paying a certain fee to become a member. At Iglesia Fuente de Salvacion you become a member the moment you walk in the door. They treat you as family right away. There is no judgement or condemnation because of past sins, you truly become part of the body of Christ at this small church.

One of the things I admire about Pastor Cruz’s sermons is how enthusiastic he is about Christ. His enthusiasm is contagious! Plus, he has a way of breaking down the Biblical message in a way that makes sense and relates to real life. The best part is that he and his wife are humble and honest people. They both work regular jobs in addition to running the church. They will openly admit their faults and Pastor Cruz isn’t too proud to be corrected. If you feel he is wrong about something, you can tell him and he will evaluate himself and make sure to correct it. Samuel Cruz realizes that being a Pastor does not make him God, it makes him human, and all humans make mistakes.

The women’s ministry at Fountain of Salvation is on fire! Once a month the ladies get together and have a prayer vigil that is supposed to be from 8pm-11pm. Even though it is supposed to end at 11pm, most of the time we stay until well past midnight because we are having so much fun. The comradery with each other and the Holy Spirt creates a strong bond and you lose track of time. The church also has many other fun activities throughout the month for the whole family to enjoy. I originally went to this church back in May because they were showing one of my favorite movies, War Room. After meeting everyone that day, I decided to go back for the actual service that Sunday and have felt like family ever since. This Friday at 7 pm, Iglesia Fuente de Salvacion will be showing God’s Not Dead 2 (in English). Come out and enjoy this inspirational movie and feel the power of the Holy Spirit that moves through this tiny faith filled church.
