Hernando County is soon to get a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant, located on Cortez Blvd adjacent to the Dunkin Donuts outparcel at 13179 Cortez Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34613.
According to a representative of the company, it is planned to open the new restaurant sometime in February 2017. An exact date for the opening is scheduled to be announced in mid January.
For those who have not eaten at a Chipotle Mexican Grill, it is the largest chain of fast, casual Mexican food and known for its industrial design of concrete floors, exposed pipes and ductwork, and steel-topped tables.
Chipotle Mexican Grill became well known for using locally sourced food. The company stated that “Chipotle restaurants served more than 30 million pounds of produce sourced from local farmers around the country, including tomatoes, Romaine lettuce, bell peppers, red onions, avocados, and more.” Many of those suppliers operated small farms.
Chipotle Mexican Grill recently had to address some issues with food safety. Those issues, extensively covered in the Press, caused the chain to source produce from larger farms that could provide extensive testing and better safety protocols. Chipotle Mexican Grill offers a simple menu serving four items: Burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads. There’s a choice of several meats and a variety of vegetables and rice.
Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants originated in Denver in 1993 close to the University of Denver campus and now boasts several hundred restaurants within the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France.
Devoted patrons of Chipotle Mexican Grill are sure to be delighted to see one of their restaurants opened in Hernando County.
