On Dec. 17, 2016, Florida Hills Memorial Gardens will host a ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. The Laying of the Wreaths will begin at 11 a.m.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Their mission: “Remember, Honor Teach” is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies each December at Arlington as well as thousands of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
Wreaths Across America encourages every volunteer who places a wreath on a veteran’s grave to say that veteran’s name aloud and take a moment to thank them for their service to our country. It’s a small act that goes a long way toward keeping the memory of our veterans alive.

WINTER WATERLAND CHRINCHMAS

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park’s annual holiday event, Winter Waterland, on December 16-17, 2016. The event is from 6-10 PM. Admission is only $6 for adults, and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Kids five and underare free.
The World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids will perform four shows during this specialevening event, with the theme of a “Mermaid Grinchmas Show”. In addition to themermaid performances, there will be a live nativity scene, “Let it Glow” light show, elf lane, and of course, an appearance and photo opportunity with Santa and his mermaid elves.
Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is one of Florida’s oldest roadside attractions. Built in 1947, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is home to the World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids. Centered in the park where the famed sirens perform, is a first-magnitude spring, where 117-million gallons of water emerge from the aquifer below. In addition to the mermaid shows, the park boasts a river boat ride, wildlife show, and is home to Florida’s only spring-fed water park, Buccaneer Bay.
