A Hernando County Man who goes by the name “Moses” was arrested for aggravated stalking and filing a false police report of child abuse or neglect on Dec. 31, 2016.
A Sheriff’s deputy responded to a DCF abuse allegation which stated that a now 14 year old girl had been raped by her mother’s roommate repeatedly since she turned 13 years old. The allegations were determined to be made by Joseph Anthony Moses who called in the statements by pay phone. He initially gave the name of Michael Jones. Moses claimed in the phone call that the girl has pictures of the rape. He claimed that the mother of the girl is 7 months pregnant with Moses’ child. In the phone call, Moses apparently told the girl to “get her ovaries tested to check to see if she was still a virgin.”
The girl informed the deputy that at no point did she ever have sex with her mother’s boyfriend and there was never any inappropriate behavior. The mother clarified that the allegations must have been made by her ex boyfriend Joseph Anthony Moses, who she broke up with a few months ago. Since then he had been stalking her and her new boyfriend. She described how Joseph would peek in their windows and lie on top of their trailer to listen to their conversations. Joseph would then call her and tell her what they had been talking about, claiming that he “received these messages from God” and was a prophet sent to her by God. The mother said that Joseph became infatuated with her daughter. Joseph contacted her daughter’s father to say the girl had been raped by her mother’s new boyfriend. The mother said that Joseph believes she is pregnant with twins because “God told him.” The mother obtained a domestic violence injunction against Moses and he was later arrested for violating the injunction, but was released on 12/14/16.
The boyfriend denied the allegations and stated Joseph refuses to leave them alone. The girl’s father also stated that Joseph made up false rape allegations against the mother’s new boyfriend and went so far as to facebook message his new girlfriend about the rape allegations.
When confronted about the false allegations, Joseph denied calling DCF and making the false report. The deputy proceeded to arrest Moses at which point he admitted to calling DCF from Walmart this morning and using the fake name “Mike Jones.”
Moses has a total bond of $12,000 and awaits a felony court date of 1/24/17 at 0900 hours in courtroom D.
