Inshore there are a lot of small reds around with a few solid slot fish. Target them on the incoming tide anywhere you find oysters and/or rocks. Also picking up a few snook with a big one now and then. Look for them in passes and creek mouths with good water flow. Soft plastic jerk baits in electric chicken and gold spinner baits are working well.
Offshore in 16 to18 feet of water friends and I caught gag grouper, cobia, grunts, lots of sharks and lost a couple of big mystery fish that broke our 50 pound test line. We anchored over some rocks and put out the chum bags. The main bait was live pin fish suspended a few feet above the bottom.
Scallop season is just around the corner so get your snorkel gear ready. Make sure your license is up to date, and don’t forget your diver down flag.
