A popular quest is to look for great barbecue. One of the best ways to do this is to follow your nose. Tasty barbecue can be found simply by driving down the road and stopping when you smell the sweet smoke of burning wood mixed with the slow cooking aroma of food.
That was how we found Pee Wee’s Knockout BBQ, a food truck usually located a little south of the Big Lots shopping center on US 41. We had driven past a number of times, but on that day the wood smoke hooked us.
The owner is Tina Williams and she has been barbecuing all her life. She tests out new ideas at home on her grill. She learned to barbecue from her father who was the grill master for an Elks lodge.
Pee Wee’s sells the traditional barbecue fare. They offer pork, chickens and ribs. The sell a full slab of ribs for $25 and a half slab for $15. Their half chicken is $10. They also cater. We tried the full rack of ribs and they tasted as good as they smelled. You can reach them at 352-403-8970.
