The Frist Humanitarian Award was created in 1971 by Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA Healthcare to recognize outstanding individuals for their humanitarian volunteer activity.
On Tuesday, June 13th, The 2016 Frisk award was presented to Dr. Pariksith Singh at Oak Hill Hospital. Oak Hill CEO, Mickey Smith introduced Dr. Singh and spoke to an audience of his colleagues, staff and general public of his many accomplishments.
Dr. Singh received his medical training in India, and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Elmhurst in 1996 and has been board certified in internal medicine since that time. Upon coming to Florida, Dr. Singh worked at the Professional Center for Internal Medicine until 2001. In 2001, he co-founded Access Healthcare, where he continues as CEO and Medical Director today.
He founded The Auroveda Operating Foundation, which includes The Auroveda Community Outreach, The Auro Community Garden, and The Kid’s Garden at Pine Grove Elementary School. The Community Outreach Center has three locations and partners with the Florida Access Program, which helps provide food, cash and medical assistance to individuals and families on the road to economic recovery.
Dr. Singh has continuously supported People Helping People, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), The Crescent Clinic, The Wounded Warrior Project, and various neighborhood schools.
In India, Dr. Singh founded the Auroveda Integral Foundation, which provides cost-free treatments. The foundation has also submitted an application to provide healthcare and wellness programs, which will have satellite locations in rural areas.
Mr. Smith concluded with Dr. Singh’s long list of accomplishments, “Given Dr. Singh’s incredible impact on our community, our patients, our hospital and his contributions abroad, it is readily evident that he is a deserving recipient of the 2016 Tommy Frist Humanitarian award.”
Dr. Singh graciously accepted this award, and spoke about “magic” being the catalyst for “anyone doing something extra.” “Magic,” he explained, is an acronym. “Magic in our life happens when we have Meaning, Autonomy, Growth, Impact, and Communication.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Singh was recognized with a special award from La. Ganeshan, a member of Parliament in India, for Dr. Singh’s outstanding contributions to healthcare. The award is called the ‘Shreshtha Vaidya Seva Ratna’ award or the “Special Doctor Service Award.”
Dr. Singh is also a poet and author of The Shoreless River and Riddles for Pesky Teenagers.
