The US National Park Service is allowing girls to program the lighting patterns for trees in the nation’s capital. They have teamed up with Google’s made w/ code. The programming tools are very straight forward. It is similar to putting together a puzzle aided by a wizard.
You can specify the number of lights, their size, and choose two colors. You also can specify the movement of the lights. This is done by dragging the properly shaped variable to the appropriate spot. The variables are either numbers which can be increased or decreased or they are colors.
The girl requirement does not appear to absolute. I made and submitted a tree design to see what was being taught. My tree design will be on the Florida tree on 12/05 at 4:05pm.
