The shared Air Conditioning System at Weeki Wachee High School and Winding Waters K8 is still under repair this week. It has been out since the beginning of June.
Trane, who originally installed the system about 5 years ago is removing, repairing, refitting and reinstalling more than 500 gaskets, according to Williams. The system is not under warranty. The last cost estimate Williams was aware of is approximately $130,000. Since the system has been out for nearly a month, Hernando Sun inquired about mold issues. Williams stated that there are no mold issues in the system.
Despite the warm conditions, WWHS principal Troy LaBarbara stated, “We have continued our conditioning for all of our sports, along with marching band practice and cheerleading. All office duties and responsibilities have continued, along with the development of our plans for next school year.”
