Memorial Services to Honor Forgotten
The issue of homelessness is hard to ignore in the Tampa Bay area, and many die each ear without a home or next of kin to memorialize their life. The R.O.P.E. Center, located in Hudson, will be hosting their annual National Homeless Memorial Service to honor the lives of those who died on the streets this past year.
The R.O.P.E. Center was established in 2009 to provide shelter and assistance to those in need. Started by Pastor Jim Campbell along with his wife Pastor Sue Campbell, the R.O.P.E. Center takes in single men and women. They also operate the C.O.R. Center, a community outreach program where members of the community can apply for services and get food assistance.
“It is a heavy day, but also a hopeful one,” says Pastor Sue Campbell. “While we must continue to work toward a world where no life is lived or lost in homelessness, it is also important to take pause and remember our neighbors.”
The National Memorial Service takes place December 21, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the R.O.P.E Center, located at 7839 Rhodes Road in Hudson. The public is invited to attend. Solomon Keim, award winning saxophonist, will also be making a special guest appearance.
