The City of Brooksville honored Brooksville PD Detective Tracey Schofield and his fiancée Jillian Rose with a proclamation on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 for their assistance of needy children during the Christmas holiday. Schofield is the President of the nonprofit charity Police & Kids Foundation which helps underprivileged children and those of fallen law enforcement officers.

The Foundation reached out to Brooksville Elementary and Pinellas Park Elementary in order to find children in need this past Christmas. Thirty nine children from the Brooksville area and 25 from Pinellas Park had a brighter holiday thanks to Schofield and Rose coordinating with local Walmarts and parents to purchase gifts totaling $100 per child.

They also provided a Christmas tree and ornaments to a Pinellas Park family who couldn’t afford one. Schofield heard about a Brooksville family of 12 living in “deplorable conditions” and with Publix was able to give them a complete Christmas meal as well as plans for long term assistance. On Christmas Eve, he received a last minute emergency call from a parent of three in Hernando County. With Walmart he was able to buy gifts for the children.
