Arrest Summary: “On 3/29/18 at approximately 1549 hours, I observed a white male sitting against a tree in the parking lot of the Calvary Church located at 235 Cobblestone Drive. I made contact with this individual, who advised he was homeless in the area. Through conversation, I asked the subject if he would like to provide me with a form of identity and he handed me his Florida driver’s license from his wallet. He stated, “Here you go, I know you guys just have a job to do.” I identified the subject as the defendant, Michael J. Caruso.
I checked Michael for any wants or warrants through this agency’s telecommunication system, at which time I was advised Michael had a possible warrant out of Pasco County for Contempt of Court. I detained Michael at this point, awaiting confirmation of the warrant. At approximately 1610 hours, the warrant was confirmed and Michael was taken into custody, please refer to Hernando County Case report 2018-09641.
Michael was searched incident to arrest after confirmation of the warrant. He advised he had a “pipe” in his front left pants pocket. In that pocket, I recovered a glass pipe containing a clear crystal like substance residue. Michael advised this substance was methamphetamine. While searching a yellow bag that Michael had in his possession, I recovered 2 more glass pipes, and 16 empty clear small baggies that contained residue. A field test was done on the pipes, and the baggies, both testing positive for methamphetamine. All contraband was secured and placed into evidence respectively. Photos of the paraphernalia and positive test results were taken as well.
Michael was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center and charged with 2 counts of possession of paraphernalia. Michael was given a total bond of $2000 and a misdemeanor court date of 4/20/18 at 0900 hours in Courtroom “C” of the Hernando County Court House.”
Strong odor of Marijuana Emitting from Vehicle Leads to Drug Bust

Arrest Summary: “On 3/29/18 at approximately 2137 hours, I observed a silver Lincoln bearing FL tag JKFE70 traveling westbound on Forest Oaks Boulevard. While traveling behind this vehicle, I could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from this vehicle. As I positioned my vehicle closer to this vehicle, the smell of marijuana began to get stronger. It should be noted this vehicle and I were the only 2 vehicles traveling on this road. I checked the license plate attached to this vehicle through ELVIS, and it revealed the registered owner, Sarah Vierra, was a black female and did not have a valid driver’s license. It should be noted, ELVIS did not have a picture of this subject, only the description of a black female. The driver of this vehicle at the time appeared to be a black subject with long hair in a ponytail.
I activated my emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Forest Oaks Boulevard and Thunderbird Avenue based on this information. I made contact with the driver, who was identified as Desmond Horton by his Alabama identification card. Desmond advised he does not have a valid driver’s license at this time and the vehicle belongs to his girlfriend, Sarah. While speaking with Desmond, I observed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Desmond advised he does have marijuana in the vehicle and he will cooperate with law enforcement. He stated his electronic cigarette, which he handed to me willingly, contained marijuana. I secured this object and advised him to exit the vehicle.
Upon searching Desmond’s person, I recovered a small bag containing a green, leafy substance from his right pocket. The substance field tested positive for marijuana, using NarcoTest Kit 7608. This substance weighed 1.1 grams without the bag that contained it. Desmond was detained and placed into the rear of my patrol vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, I observed a black fabric pouch that contained a small purple bottle. Inside of this bottle was a small clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance. This substance field tested positive for cocaine using NarcoTest Kit 7604. This substance weighed 4.1 grams with the bag that contained it.
The brown contents inside of the electronic cigarette were field tested for THC using NarcoTest Kit 7608, and it was positive. This substance weighed 14.4 grams with the canister of the cigarette that contained it.
A check of this agency’s telecommunication system revealed Desmond does not have or possess a valid driver’s license. It revealed his license was suspended in April 2013, and since then he has not obtained another license. Desmond only has a valid Alabama identification card.
Desmond was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center and charged with the following offenses: Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Hashish, Possession of marijuana under 20 grams, and driving with no valid driver’s license. Desmond was given a total bond of $5,500. He was issued a Felony court date of 4/23/18 at 0830 hours, in Courtroom “E”, at the Hernando County Courthouse.”

Arrest Summary: “On 03/30/2018 at approximately 1108 hours the defendant, later identified via his issued Arizona identification card as Dale Blake, entered the Bank of America, 11050 Spring Hill Drive. The defendant approached the teller and presented a Bank of America check, check #1521, with the name of Ellie…, the victim, his mother, as the check owner. The defendant attempted to cash the check in the amount of $1,000.00. The defendant provided his Arizona identification card and even provided a thumbprint on the check, however, staff believed the check to be fraudulent as there was no signature, just a printed name of “Ellie…” written in the signature section. When staff advised the defendant that law enforcement would be called he stated, “I don’t want any problems, don’t worry about it.” The defendant then left the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival, leaving the check and his identification on the counter.
No funds were withdrawn from the bank.
After retrieving all information from the bank and while en route to the victim’s residence (located just a few blocks away from the bank), the defendant was located and a consensual encounter took place.
Post Miranda Warning read via my issued Miranda Warning card, the defendant admitted to writing the check in his own name, filling in the amount of $1,000.00, and attempting to cash it at the bank; the defendant even provided a sworn written statement stating, “I wanted to buy a motorcycle but the bank was giving me problems.”
Contact was made with the victim, who advised that she did not authorize this transaction.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center without incident, where he remains on a $2,000.00 bond. A court date of 04/23/2018 at 0830 hours in Courtroom “E” of the Hernando County Courthouse was provided.”

Arrest Summary: “On 03/30/2018 contact was made with Lauren Potavin at the Family Dollar located at 4075 Deltona Boulevard in reference to a theft investigation. Upon speaking with the defendant, she advised that she “Didn’t steal anything” and subsequently handed her purse to this deputy and stated, “Go ahead and look.”
A check of the purse did reveal there to be a small clear plastic case which contained a crystal like substance. A field test was then conducted on the clear substance using a NARCO test kit, which did reveal a positive presence of methamphetamine.
The defendant was then taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Jail. Once at the jail the clear crystal like substance was weighed on a certified scale, which revealed the total weight to be 3.1 grams with packaging. The defendant was then given a court date of 04/23/2018 and held on a $3,000 bond.”

Arrest Summary: “On 03/30/2018, the defendant was observed by this writer standing in the center divider of Osowaw Boulevard, near the intersection of Commercial Way, in Spring Hill, Hernando County, Florida. The defendant was then observed walking into the roadway, soliciting the drivers for donations, and in doing so, causing an obstruction in the flow of traffic. It should be noted that the traffic light was green and vehicles were not able to move due to him accepting money from the driver of that vehicle.
Upon making contact with the defendant, who did not possess a permit to solicit, he admitted to being at the intersection to solicit donations and admitted to obstructing traffic in doing so. The defendant was also observed with a homemade sign that read, “HOMELESS VET ALL HELPS GOD BLESS” that he admitted to utilizing prior to being approached by law enforcement.
The defendant was previously charged two times in the last two months with violating this statute.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Jail, where he was issued a traffic citation, A9E6P6E, given a court date of 04/20/2018, and placed on a $500.00 bond.”

While he was conducting a pat down of the defendant a needle fell out of the defendant’s pants. The defendant advised Deputy B. he forgot he had placed it in his left waistband of his boxer.

Arrest Summary: “On March 31, 2018, at approximately 1200 hours I responded to the Walmart located at 1485 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, Hernando County, Florida, in reference to a theft.
Upon arrival contact was made with the defendant as she was exiting the garden department and passing all points of sale. The defendant had a cosmetic bag filled with various other items that were not all paid for. She was also wearing a hat that was not paid for. The defendant had multiple bags of her own in the cart. Hidden under one of those bags was a shirt that was not paid for. The total amount for all items taken $61.68.
The defendant was then taken into custody and brought back to the asset protection office, and she was read her Miranda rights. The defendant stated that she forgot to pay for the items, but could not say why she placed all the cosmetics in a separate bag, removed the tags from the items, and hid the shirt under her bags.
The defendant stated all of the bags in her possession were hers. While searching her bags, incident to arrest, I located four glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamine in a pouch. The defendant stated they were not hers, but could not explain why it was in her possession. The pipes later field tested positive for methamphetamine. I then found a marijuana pipe in another bag that the defendant stated was used for smoking marijuana, but then later said it was not hers. The pipe later field tested positive for THC.
Deputy C S then conducted a search of the defendant and she located a small plastic bag and a pill in a plastic wrapper hidden in the defendant’s bra. The defendant then stated “that’s my Xanax” but stated she did not have a prescription for it. Xanax is the brand name for Alprazolam.
Also while searching the defendants bags, I located a state issued EBT card for Koren Ledford, a Florida driver’s license for Katherine Klant, Rhonda Jackson, Emmanuel Jimenez Torres, and Danielle Blake, and a Bank of America debit card for Jessica Berry and 1 or 1 Inc. I then found two notebooks containing personal identification information for Jerry Woodham, Jesus Ledesma, Michelle Robsa, Shelly Runenik, Stacey Woodham, Logan Woodham, Robert Clark, and Tyler Woodham. I also located a Florida birth certificate for Tyler Woodham, and a Netspend Visa debit card for Stacey Woodham. The defendant stated that she did not have permission to have the personal identification information for any of the subjects listed. She also stated that it was not hers after already stating all of the bags were hers.
The defendant was then transported to the Hernando County Jail. She was given a court date of April 23, at 0830 hours. She was given a total bond of $9,500.00.”
Fugitive Falls Through the Ceiling

Arrest Summary: “On 03/31/2018, multiple deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff’s office responded to the residence of 3529 Orion Road in reference to Nicole Davies and Michael Nutt being present. Both subject had active felony warrants which law enforcement was attempting to serve. All deputies that were present were wearing Class B agency issued uniforms.
Upon arrival Michael was observed in the rear of the residence. Upon knocking on the front door the homeowner, Ricardo Garmendez, answered and began to speak with law enforcement. While speaking with the homeowner, deputies could hear what sounded like people moving in the attic. Ricardo then allowed deputies into the residence to conduct a search.
A search of the residence did reveal there to be an open attic access in the master bedroom. Upon announcing “Sheriff’s office, come out,” Michael partially fell through the ceiling in the living room, causing a wide hole. Deputies were unable to get to Michael before he re-entered the ceiling.
Michael and Nicole then began to walk around in the ceiling, in order to evade arrest. While walking around in the attic, both subjects damaged the ceiling and made several new holes. The total value of the damage was $4000.
Less than lethal force was then utilized at which point, Michael surrendered and exited the ceiling. Nicole refused to come down from the roof, therefore, Hernando deputies entered and physically removed her.
Both subjects were then transported to the Hernando County Jail. Once at the jail, Michael was given a court date of 04/23/2018, and held on a bond of $3000.”

Arrest Summary: “On 03/31/2018, while on proactive patrol in the area of the intersection of Weeping Willow and Adams Street, I observed a 1998 red in color GMC pickup, bearing FL tag #Y38JTY, driving southbound on Weeping Willow, passing my patrol vehicle. I observed the defendant in the driver’s seat with his window down. the defendant then turned eastbound on Adams Street and parked in the middle of the roadway and turned the vehicles lights off, causing a highway obstruction.
I activated my patrol vehicle overhead lights and conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle at Weeping Willow and Adams Street. I made contact with the driver of the vehicle and advised him of the reason for the stop, which he started to become belligerent, calling me a “dick head” multiple times. The defendant continued to advise he does not have a valid driver’s license. The driver of the vehicle identified himself as Terrence Dejaynes, 11/16/1966, via name and date of birth.
An ELVIS search of the vehicle’s tag came back to a 1990 silver Ford pickup truck, confirming the vehicle the defendant was in possession of was unregistered.
A teletype search of the defendant’s driver’s license status confirmed his license has been revoked since 11/05/1988.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, the search revealed a white marijuana cigarette which field tested positive for THC content via NARCO test kit.
The defendant was then placed into custody and transported to the Hernando County Jail where he is being held on a $3,000.00 bond. The defendant will have a mandatory court date of 04/20/2018 at the Hernando County Courthouse in Courtroom “C”, at 0900 hours.”
