A veteran of the U.S. Navy and “great left-handed golfer,” James Paul Breitung moved to Florida in 1996. Jim was a celebrated long-time resident and board member of the High Point Golf Club. Following his death in 2015, his partner in life, Ruth Cassara, along with several individuals and businesses sponsor the annual golf tournament held in Breitung’s honor.
Harold and Muriel Tremain organize the event, which is sponsored by several prominent local businesses and individual donors. The Tremains are sponsors as well. Twenty teams of 100 golfers teed off in near-perfect weather on Sunday, March 26, 2018. The picturesque landscape, enhanced by the meticulous efforts of community volunteers was the backdrop for extremely well-maintained fairways and greens that are on par with top courses.
High Point is a private golf club, however, certain memberships are available for non-residents.
