If you enjoy running and dressing up in costume, then maybe you should consider taking part in the 3rd Annual Masquerade Masquerade Madness 5K, 10K, and 1 mile COSTUME run on October 17th. You’ll be able to don your favorite costume garb while running along Brooksville’s idyllic Good Neighbor Trail- both for a good cause. If neither running nor dressing up in costume appeals to you, then you may find some entertainment in watching others do so.
The Masquerade Madness Run is organized by Junior Service League of Brooksville and will benefit the charities they support. In 2016, Junior Service League of Brooksville will be celebrating 80 years of service to our community. They are a nonprofit women’s organization “committed to supporting women’s and children’s charities in Hernando County.” Co-chair of the event, Alysha Smith explains, “This year, we are are partnering with the Hernando County School District’s Students and Families in Transition Program. This venture will provide homeless/transitional students with food during Christmas and spring breaks when they will not have access to school breakfast and lunch.”
The race will be professionally timed. It will feature a costume contest, awards by age group as well as best COSTUME (group and individual). Following the race, the Rising Sun Cafe in downtown Brooksville will be hosting an after party. A portion of the proceeds from the after party will go back to Junior Service League of Brooksville and the charities they support.
Last year Batgirl (Allie Patak) and Nightwing (Evan Patak) were the top female and male 5k finishers respectively. They celebrated with Ironman (Matthew Laurain), atop his shoulders.

When: Saturday, October 17th, 2015; 5K and 10K registration at 7 AM with race start at 8 AM; 1 mile registration at 8:15 AM with race start at 9:15 AM. Awards ceremony following race conclusion- awards given for age groups
as well as best COSTUME! After party following at Rising Sun Cafe, 10 S. Main Street, Brooksville.
