A quiet retirement was not exactly the plan for Lorenzo and Adriana Aday 84 and 73 respectively. Hernando County Vice and Narcotics discovered an elaborate grow house at their home in Brooksville on, oddly enough, Highgrove Rd.
Withlacoochee River Electric (WREC) notified the Vice and Narcotics Unit about a possible power diversion occurring at the residence. WREC employees stated that the power being drawn from the house did not coincide with the meter. When detectives explained to the couple why they were at the residence, Lorenzo informed detectives that there was marijuana growing inside the house.
In total there were 30 plants growing in the garage with indications of larger plants having been recently harvested. There was fertilizer and cultivation equipment in every room of the home as well as half a pound of processed marijuana. Vacuum seal bags and scales were also found which indicates to police involvement in distribution.
Lorenzo served 72 months in federal prison for marijuana conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing since detectives believe the Aday operation is connected to other growing operations in the area.
