SPRING HILL – Hernando County is not in Iowa, but we are getting some attention from a Republican Presidential Candidate. Carly Fiorina, who has surged in the polls following strong performances at the first two Republican Presidential Debates will be the keynote speaker at the Hernando County Republican’s Annual Reagan Day Dinner, Wednesday October 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets sold for $99 dollars and included a buffet dinner. The event will take place at Palace Grand.

Fiorina, the only woman on the Republican side, is cashing in on the desire for an anti-establishment candidate this election cycle. Ms. Fiorina started her career as a management trainee at AT&T, eventually became the company’s first female executive officer. She led AT&T’s spinoff Lucent Technologies and later Hewlett Packard (1999-2005). Although she is met with criticism for her performances at both companies, she has been able to defend her record staunchly. During the Second Republican National Debate, she deflected comments about her record by Donald Trump, maneuvering him into the hot seat for his multiple bankruptcies. During the same debate, she was knowledgeable on foreign affairs and the most outspoken and authentic on Planned Parenthood’s recent scandal, which sparked much backlash from pro choice activists.

Currently however, about a month out of the last debate, Fiorina’s numbers are starting to weaken. According to a recent Fox News Poll she is tied with Huckabee (at 5%) behind Trump, Carson, Cruz and Bush. Will her Hernando County appearance push her ahead?
