The We Care and Luigi’s Thanksgiving meal giveaway was an unmitigated success. The volunteers brought happiness to many people and by the end of the night they were exhausted, but beaming with joy. The unofficial numbers were 75 deliveries, 50 pickup orders, and 60 dine ins. After they tallied the tickets they had served 213 people in total.
They had 3 turkeys totalling more than 50 pounds, two hams, 15 pies, and a ton of sides. They managed to serve all of the apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie, brownies, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, sweet tea, and turkey.
A lady called from West Virginia to have a meal delivered to her homebound father. She had found out about the Thanksgiving dinner giveaway on facebook.
A lot of people received a holiday meal they may not have been able to enjoy otherwise. There were many thankful people and the group was discussing what they could do to improve the event for the Christmas.
