School district grades were received in February 2016 for the 2014-2015 school year. The grades usually come out during the summer, but changes in the grading system prolonged the scoring process. This year, Hernando County received a score of 411 which translates to a B. The mean score was 406, with St. Johns County scoring the highest at 528 and Jefferson County scoring the lowest at 227.
Because the scoring and testing standards were changed from the 2013-2014 school year, it’s difficult to make a comparison in district grades between the two school years. In the 2013-2014 school year, Hernando County scored 487 points which was translated to a C. The mean score for of all school districts was also 487. This means that Hernando County improved over last year’s score where they matched the mean, to this year where they scored 5 points above the mean.
Because school grades were received so late in the school year, it may be a challenge for teachers to make adjustments in their curriculum to improve grades for the 2015-2016 assessments.
