Sweetfield Farms
Eight years ago Ted and Lisa Kessel traveled into Georgia and North Carolina to participate in agritourism. Over the years they wanted to bring that into Hernando County. With the decline of construction work Ted and Lisa made that leap and planted Sweetfield Farms in Masaryktown.

Over the years we have watched the Kessels bring new and fun things into Sweetfield Farms. What they are known best for is their amazing sunflowers and challenging mazes.
Did you ever want to know how they put these mazes together?
“We start planning for this a year ahead of time, the actual growing and prepping of the field takes months of work. The design of the maze actually starts at the computer,” Kessel explained.
Grace Kessel is the maze lady and Ted’s beautiful mother. She hands you a leaflet with seven questions before you enter the maze. “You walk around the maze and look for seven number signs and if you answer the questions correctly you move on, if you give a wrong answer you go the wrong way,” Grace explained.
Be prepared… it may take up to 45 minutes to complete the maze. But no worries there are emergency exits throughout the maze.
The farm also offers U-Pick and fresh on the field is delicious squash and zucchini, and for $1 a piece.

Sweetfield farms has brought in new activities for kids and adults as well, which makes this place a great weekend family adventure. With Mother’s Day this weekend, this would be a sweet place to go.
“I like to say we grow memories here,” Kessel said.
During May of 2016 the farm is open weekends 10 am – 4 pm
