Becky Brooks’ Summer Art Camp in Spring Hill has been visited and explored by kids for the past three years. Originally from Illinois, she operated a camp like this for 15 years.
“My goal is to create a safe place for the kids to come and get creative, and not worry about being laughed at if they share their ideas; I want them to be able to create,” Brooks said.
Just off the Brooks property is an art building full of wonderful creative inspirations waiting for kids and young teens to open the door of their imaginations. Children spend hours putting their artistic visions on paper and canvas. They also use a variety of other formats for artistic expression.
Brooks stated that she appreciates “Just seeing them love art, and know[ing] that they can express ideas and get creative without any limitations.”
During the “Our Beautiful World!” summer camp, the kids got hands-on and up-close experience with some very special animals from the home of Krystin Scott.
Ms. Scott gave a lesson on the animals and the campers drew them afterwards.
“This is my first time [bringing animals] for the art class and these are great opportunities for these kids, who are not able to have these pets,” Kystin Scott said.
Here is a list of other camps that are happening at the Tree of Life Creative Art Workshop:
JUNE 20 – 24: “Re-cycled and re-purposed Art!” For ages 9- 12, this camp will focus on Art projects that can be created from used materials. The kids in this camp will also each build a wooden bench, and lots more!
JUNE 27- JULY 1: “I Need A Hero!” For ages 6- 9, this camp will be all about the various heroes in our lives. Included in that list are law enforcement officers, firefighters, men and women in the armed forces, historical figures, animals, family and more.
