Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Caroll received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for his 28 years of public service and contributions. Shahra Anderson, who is the Regional Director for Senator Bill Nelson, presented the certificate to Caroll.

Caroll stated he came to Hernando County in 1977 with his mother, brother, and sister, seeking a better life. In the 28 years he has been with the fire department, Caroll says he has been blessed with the various fire chiefs, captains, and firefighters he has worked with.

“It is those fire chiefs who have molded me, and sculpted me, into the person that I have become today,” Caroll said, noting that Fire Chief Scott Hechler and Deputy Chief Mike Nickerson were the most influential. His goal over the next years of service is to continue to provide “the best fire and emergency services to everybody who not only resides, but commutes through this county.”

Caroll thanked the BOCC, County Administrator, County Attorney, Senator Nelson, and Ms. Anderson, saying he felt “humbled and grateful” for the recognition.
