Brooksville Council Members voted to reaffirm their support for an alternate route of the Coast to Coast Connector through the City of Brooksville’s downtown area. They are highly appreciative of the MPO’s support of the alternative route by placing it on the Long Range Transporation Plan (LRTP) and as a priority on the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP).
An updated version of the route (above) was supported by Council Members.
Additionally, $10,000 was taken out of reserves to fund a route study and survey work to present to the DOT since it was not budgeted for the fiscal year 2015. Council Member Erhard stated that it is a shame that they are in a position where they have to strengthen their case, but it would be shortsighted to not go with the strongest possible case. City Manager Jennene Norman- Vacha mentioned that DOT did set aside money for the alternative route study but it would not come available until 2017.
