New location for Clerk’s Spring Hill customer service office
The Hernando County Clerk of Circuit Court’s customer service office at the West Side Government Center in Spring Hill has moved from 7415 Forest Oaks Boulevard to 7405 Forest Oaks Boulevard. This new location was formerly occupied by the Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD). HCUD moved its operation a year ago from the West Side Government Center to the former Tampa Bay Times building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville. Free Dementia workshop Oct. 7
Unity Church of Citrus County, located at 2628 W. Woodview Lane in Lecanto, will host an ABC of Dementia workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017. The event will be free and open to the public. Addressing the topic in everyday language, workshop presenter Debbie Selsavage will define Alzheimer’s and dementia, explain how dementia affects individuals, discuss ways to interpret dementia behaviors for better communication and results, and show how compassion and the proper use voice, approach, and appropriate touch can result in more effective and less stressful caregiving.

Second Sunday Community Sing-A-Long
Unitarian Universalist Church in the Pines will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 8, 2017 at Heather Community Center, 9100 Nakoma Way (1.25 miles N of Cortez), Weeki Wachee for a Community Sing. The group meets the second Sunday of every month.The next ‘Sing’ will be November 13. Sing great songs, enjoy wine, cheese, laughs, and fun conversation. PHSC to host Peace Week Celebration
Pasco-Hernando State College will host keynote speakers, guest lecturers, exhibits, presentations, interactive workshops, and peace and religion festivals for the 10th annual Peace Week, Oct. 16 – 20. Peace Week events following the theme of Mindfulness will be held on PHSC’s East Campus in Dade City, North Campus in Brooksville, Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch in Wesley Chapel, Spring Hill Campus, and West Campus in New Port Richey.
The opening ceremony will feature keynote speaker Hector Marcel, presenting “Stepping into an Incredible Future” on Monday, October 16 at 11 a.m. on the West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road in R151. Other presentations and lectures scheduled throughout the week include a variety of topics: Mindfulness as a Classroom Strategy; Positivity in Action; The Role of Mindfulness in Public Service; Being Mindful of Gender Equality to End Gender Based Violence; Rocket Science and Art; and A Mission of Love—Bikers against Child Abuse.
At the West Campus in New Port Richey, Buddhist monks will create a sand mandala, drum circles, exhibits and displays will be held at each campus. Those interested in expressing ideas about peace may enjoy creating crafts, including tie-dye and sand art.
