Looking for a unique place to see one of a kind pieces of art? Then take some time to experience the extensive art exhibit that’s currently being shown at Brooksville City Hall. From paintings to mixed media, and everything in between, it’s a wonderful place to view art from artists of all ages and styles.
Recently, I took some time to look around at all of the works that were available for viewing, and was amazed and the wide variety. Upon walking into City Hall, the first floor boasts several larger works. Some of these include beautiful and striking photographs of nature, people, and scenery. Several paintings also line the walls, depicting a, “Florida Water Scene,” “Pine Island Memories,” and many others. There is also an interesting historic anvil with a surprisingly deep history. It’s accompanied by photographs and a short narrative that described the historical significance of the anvil.
There is a detailed quilt that features a number of historic panels, and is full of excellent detail, which hangs in a frame on a beam adjacent to the stairs that lead to the second floor. Once you’re on the second story of the building, you find that there’s much more art to view.
The art extends down a several hallways, and features some of the most interesting, creative, and diverse art I’ve had the pleasure of viewing. Located near the stairs and elevator, there are several sculptures, artistic jewelry, a model ship of the, “H.M.S. Endeavour Bark,” and three artistic dolls, among many other works. The hallways feature an incredible amount of work, including things like mixed media, acrylics and/or oils on canvas and linen, watercolors, colored pencils, framed poetry, and so many more things.
The current exhibit is, “Summertime,” and will be available for viewing until October 8th, 2016. Admission is free, and open to the public.
