Joseph Santana, Senior Class President and Student Delegate from Nature Coast Technical High School (NCTHS) came forward to thank the Board for allowing him to be a student delegate. He asked for them to continue the senior trip to Washington DC. Mr. Santana also asked for approval of the Video Production Class trip to New York City.
Maria Oexmann, bus driver spoke about her concerns with discipline at Endeavor. Administrators are not following up on bus write-ups. She asked the board to support our drivers more.
Susan Pribil came forward to invite everyone to the HCTA School Board Candidate Forum on Thursday, May 19th at 6:00 P.M. at Central High School (CHS).
Laura Santiago, teacher at Winding Waters K-8, came forward to thank the Board for the opportunity to let the public speak. She expressed her excitement for the future of WWK8. Kimberly Mulrooney came forward to demand something to be done about the child that was bullied at SHS.
Reanna Goss, former 12th grader at SHS came forward and spoke about the bullying incident at SHS. She asked how does Mr. Rufa still have a job? She stated that she left SHS because of the bullying.
Emily McHugh, senior at NCTHS that recently attended the senior class trip to Washington DC. She shared her positive experience.
Michael Angelo Gordon, candidate for School Board District 4 came forward and read a letter written by the bullying victim at SHS.
Hamilton Hanson came forward to speak about the zero based budgeting vs needs based budgeting for the half cent sales tax funds. He wants to know which one we are using because he doesn’t believe it is zero based. Mr. Hanson asked for a meeting with someone that can give him that information.
Willis Reese III, candidate for School Board District 2 came forward to speak about non-reappointment letters and how they are not compassionate. He mentioned that he received one.
Hunter Schwifrirghaus, student at NCTHS spoke on the film-making competition in New York City. He is seeking approval for the opportunity to take the trip to NYC.
Mario Littman, candidate for School Board District 2 read a prepared statement by staff at Moton Elementary School (MES) in regards to the Administrators at their school.
Samantha Billatte, film production student from NCTHS spoke regarding the class trip to New York City.
Spencer James Irish, student at Hernando High School (HHS) came forward speak about his concerns regarding how students are no longer learning. They are taught to test. Mr. Irish believes respect goes both ways. For a school to work well with students, you have to have guidance counselors that work well with students.
Danielle Underwood thanked Spencer for speaking out. She thanked Dr. Romano for the Summer Reading Program, but she questioned if dyslexic students can use audio books. She has been going through a process of having her child tested for dyslexia for 2 months with no accommodations for her child.

Mary Kate DiFresco came forward to speak on behalf of the Kindergarten and 5th grade students that will be walking across the stage at their moving up ceremony without Mr. Griffith or Mrs. Jensen.
Ramon Guiterrez came forward to ask what is our District’s curriculum for cursive writing? He also questioned outdated milk in packages in the schools. Mr. Guiterrez asked who prepares the children’s food in the cafeterias?
