The $80,700 contract with CGL (Carter Goble Associates, LLC) Inc.to conduct a space utilization study for courthouse needs was approved at the 9/12/16 BOCC meeting. Back in March, the space needs committee recommended that the BOCC continue with a Request for Proposals on a space utilization study.

The committee recommended a new 200,000 square foot Criminal Court Complex to be built to the east of the existing Government center as well as an office facility for Supervisor of Elections, Property Appraiser and Tax Collector near the Brooksville Tampa Bay Regional Airport. The total cost for all projects is estimated to be $30,000,000.

The county chose CGL’s bid over a $75,000 bid by Plante Moran Cresa.

The scope of the project as written in the contract is the following,

“Contractor Shall evaluate the current and future conditions and staffing needs for Hernando County Departments, Judicial, and Constitutional Officers based on evaluating the caseload and workload currently, and in the five and ten year horizons. More broadly, the County needs to understand if it makes strategic sense to make a substantial investment in expansion of the current Courthouse location or new building locations near the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport.”

CGL is a company that provides public infrastructure and facilities solutions. Their website explains, “We are not contractors; we’re partners and advocates for our clients.” They also offer financial services such as public-private partnerships.
