What better way to enjoy the wonderful weather of fall, than visiting a local corn maze? Off the main roads deep in Brooksville you can experience some wholesome family fun on a working farm. The drive there takes you through some beautiful winding roads in Brooksville, and at the end you find a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. If you are into experiencing all the fun of Halloween their maze turns haunted for a few evening during the latter part of October.
Richard’s Farm is a prime example of the farm culture that positively defines our county. In addition to the maze they have a fantastic array of family friendly games including a bean bag toss, corn hole toss, and toilet paper toss. The giant TIC TAC TOE and checker boards provide plenty of enjoyment.
In its second year, the entire event is run on donations and the help of volunteers, but the experience is just as amazing as any of the larger farms who tend to charge a set admission price. They do offer refreshments and delicious pulled pork sandwiches, which greet you with the tasty aroma the moment you exit your vehicle.
Outside of their annual Fall Festival, they offer home grown produce as well as beef jerky at affordable prices. Growing crops in both spring and fall ensures a fresh variety of in season foods. Some of their offers are sweet potatoes, sugarcane, and peanuts just to name a few. Moringa, or The Tree of Life as it is sometimes referred to; is also grown, harvested, and sold at Richard’s Farm. Their website www.richit44.wix.com provide tons of information on all the benefits of the leaves, which contain a large amount of vitamins. I purchased a pouch of the powder on my visit and have used it every day since. It provides a mild pick me up, which everyone could use at one point or another throughout the day.
So if you are looking to enjoy all that fall has to offer, without the crowds found at other popular locations, then be sure to put Richard’s Farm on your list. I promise you won’t be disappointed and may even visit more than a time or two throughout the season. Richard’s Farm is located at 27132 Hickory Hill Rd Brooksville, Florida.
