Located just west of downtown Brooksville there is what you could call a little hole-in-the-wall deli that is worth checking out. Some of my favorite haunts are the modest hometown eateries that serve up a good meal without the attitude of pricier more upscale establishments. As the name implies, Deli World serves deli fare including soups, sandwiches, and salads at very reasonable prices.
We ordered a Cuban, a Reuben, gyro and a chicken and rice soup. We called in the order and it was ready for pick up in ten minutes. They have counter seating and a few tables if you want to eat there.
The cuban sandwich was excellent. The cuban had the traditional ingredients pressed bread and packed full of ham, melted cheese, pickles, and mustard. The bread had a hint of garlic butter on the outside.
They serve their Reuben on your choice of bread, we chose rye. It had the usual components: corned beef, sauerkraut, melted cheese, and Thousand Island dressing.
The gyro was served on flatbread and came with tzatziki sauce, onions, tomatoes, and pre-sliced gyro meat. They include additional tzatziki sauce on the side.
If you are near downtown Brooksville, stop by Deli World for a reasonably priced, tasty, low key lunch.
