Dave Stewart and his wife Jean run DJ Produce. They have produce stands throughout the County, providing fresh produce from Plant City as well as Hernando County farms. They also work with cottage kitchens selling pickles, pickled okra, garlic and beets as well as jams and jellies. They provide produce for local businesses including Local Roots Cafe in Brooksville, R Beach and Zig Zag Scallop both in Hernando Beach.
Mr. Stewart has been at his Hernando Beach location for about 3 years and says he feels really blessed because the residents and businesses in Hernando Beach have been so supportive. He is also thankful just to have his own business, it’s hard work, but now has much more freedom. Before entering the produce business, he was in the shipping field.
For most of his life, Dave has lived and worked in Hernando County. He looks forward to expanding his produce business and continuing to work with local farms to bring fresh healthy food to the community. This was a successful year for DJ Produce as they earned more than expected. They also just opened a new location at the entrance to High Point in Brooksville.
