Have you always wanted to learn archery?
According to the Archery Trade Association, nearly 19 million Americans are involved in archery and it’s a sport growing in popularity particularly with women.
Join the Conservation Center staff for a two-hour beginners’ instructional course and target shoot.
All equipment for the free program is provided by the center. The session is suitable only for adults. Please call to register. The class is free for participants, Pre-registration is required

37th Brooksville Raid Re-enactment

The Hernando Historical Museum Assoc., Inc. and the North Pinellas County Scout Sertoma Club, Inc. present the 37th Annual Brooksville Raid Reenactment, on Jan. 21 & 22, 2017. The event portrays the 1846 raid of federal troops into the interior as the Union forces attempted to destroy a confederate salt works. Camps open at 9 am with the Presentation of Colors.
The Raid is held the third weekend in January every year and has become the largest Civil War reenactment in Florida with over 1500 reenactors and their families. Featured will be 28 cannons, 60 horses, and over 60 sutlers offering a variety of Civil War items..
The public is invited to tour, at no additional charge, the authentic Confederate and Union camps and actually see how they lived and what it was like during the Civil War. There will also be kettle corn, old time root beer and fry bread. Animals are welcome but must be on a leash.
Activities include shopping on Suttler’s Row, Battalion Drills, the Ladies’ Tea, Brooksville Raid Battle Re-enactment, and on Sunday at 1:30 pm is the Grand Review. Bring a chair for your comfort. Cost: Adults, $8; Youth age 6 – 12, $4; under age 5, free; Boy Scouts in uniform, free.
