The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association held a health fair at the Residence at Timber Pines last week. Craig Mayers, Community Development Coordinator for the Gulf Coast Chapter explained that the Alzheimer’s Association strives to educate the public about available resources for families and patients in the area.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups, educational resources such as caregiver training, professional training and a 24/7 Helpline 1.800.272.3900. The support group in Hernando County is held at the West Hernando Branch Library; 6335 Blackbird Avenue Brooksville, FL 34613 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2:30 PM. The Health Fair was a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. There were various health related vendors, baked goods and craft sales, a virtual dementia tour mobile as well as the offerings of the popular local food truck BarbieQue.
