The have been several high profile gator attacks recently. The most notable was the toddler that was killed at the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World. If you need a nuisance alligator removed from your property, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has a program to do so. You can call the Nuisance Gator program at: 866-FWC-GATOR.
To be deemed a nuisance, the gator must be at least 4 feet in length and the caller must believe there is a threat to people, pets or property. The program uses contracted alligator trappers who are given a permit for removal of the nuisance alligator.
You must be able to grant legal access to the property where the nuisance alligator is located or obtain permission from the property owner or management authority.
There were 13,962 nuisance alligator complaints in 2015 and 7,513 nuisance gators were removed.
