Congestion at Mariner and State Rd. 50/ Cortez Blvd. will be addressed by the county. Assistant County Administrator Brian Malmberg will be organizing traffic counts to gain a better picture of the congestion. Currently Cortez Commons only allows a right turn into the shopping center and no exit on 50. United Methodist Church has expressed its concern over potential danger for parishoners and residents as a left hand turn (heading North) at Landover and Mariner is no longer allowed. They would like to see Seybold Avenue opened through to Cortez Commons allowing traffic to proceed to the new light that was installed.
In June or July a public meeting will be held at United Methodist Church to discuss the traffic congestion issues. The county intends to complete traffic studies before proceeding any further.
