Tropical Grille at the Hernando Beach Marina is a casual outdoor restaurant overlooking the Gulf access canal. Patrons dine on the deck or beneath the tiki hut. While we were there, a steady onshore breeze kept us comfortable. The food is prepared in a trailer next to the restaurant.
You can watch the marina pull down boats with a giant forklift and carry them to the canal and lower them down into the water, which is quite an impressive thing to see.
We tried the Maine Lobster Roll that was highly recommended to us and the Key West Scallop and Shrimp Skewer.
With our meals we had the option of french fries and coleslaw or for a dollar more, onion rings. We tried both. They also offer a selection of beer and wine.
The food was simple, tasty and prepared quickly. The Lobster Roll provided large chunks of lobster atop a soft thick piece of bread, buttered and lightly toasted.
About 4 scallops and 5 shrimp grilled and lightly seasoned on a skewer composed the Key West Scallop and Shrimp Skewer.
The waitress offered a variety of dipping sauce options for the scallop and shrimp skewer.
Overall, a meal at the Tropical Grille is an enjoyable diversion from the mainland hustle and bustle.
