The friend also stated that Valton made threats to his life, the victim and the son.

Officer was patrolling the parking lot of Motel 6 when a passerby approached to tell him there was a man in the road trying to jump in front of cars. The officer found Gary in the roadway on Commercial Way standing in front of a car. The officer was able to talk to Gary in the roadway and found out he was staying at the Motel 6 with his girlfriend and he was “getting some air.”
He denied that they were fighting. He said that he was not trying to jump in front of the cars and was just crossing the street. The officer noticed that his pupils were dilated and he was very animated when he spoke. The officer asked Gary if he wanted a ride back to the Motel in the patrol car and he agreed. He also agreed to be searched before getting into the patrol car. The officer found an unlabeled prescription bottle. There were three different types of #2 controlled substances in the bottle. Since he could not produce a prescription for the substances, the officer placed Gary under arrest. After his arrest they officers found a #3 controlled substance on his person.
