Gina Gonzalez, a licensed program coordinator with BayCare Behavioral Health, is one of 12 community members selected to be recognized as a champion for the community by the Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition (HCCADC).

Gonzalez received the award at the HCCADC quarterly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Gonzalez is recognized for her community efforts to build a safer, stronger and better Hernando County. Gonzalez works with HCCADC to reduce and prevent substance abuse and improve the overall health, safety and quality of life for citizens in Hernando County.

“Gina’s real strength is that she knows and understands the framework of community-based substance abuse and mental health services and is on the forefront of treatment services and resources through BayCare,” said Tresa Watson, executive director, Hernando Community Coalition.
