Mud Endeavor creates 5k Obstacle Course Races. Their stated goal is “to create a run that appeals to the average runner as well as the elite athlete.” The challenges throughout the course can be accomplished with determination and moderate physical abilities. The courses often feature elevation changes and natural obstacles as well as manmade obstacles. Many of the original mud obstacle courses were designed by military veterans and the courses are popular with current and former military.
At this event there were many veterans, some came from Fort Myers and Tampa Area. Armando Hernandez was there representing the Marines. He said “We served together that is how we know each other, and we live in Florida and met up every now and then and try to come out to these races…put on some gear and hopefully attract some attention so we can bring our message out, which is Veteran Issues, everything from Veteran suicides, Veteran Homelessness, divorce rates, PTSD whatever issue maybe … we don’t have a specific fight, other than bringing those issues to light…and anybody who doesn’t know about it and wants to know about it we will be more than willing to share information with them..”
The next Mud Endeavor is July 18th. Participating in the mud run costs between $60 and $80 depending on options selected plus parking is $10. Racers must be a minimum of 13 years old to participate. Spectators also must pay a $5 per person admission charge. The next mud run is in Dade City on July 18th, 2015. The competitive wave starts off at 6pm.
