Principal of Winding Waters K-8, Dave Dannemiller, retired in June 2015 after 34 years in the school system. During his career, he served as Principal at Pine Grove Elementary School and Powell Middle School.
As new Principal of WWK8, Janet Cerro will be inheriting the multiple overcrowding issues facing the school since the school board decided to postpone redestricting earlier this year. Cerro’s resume incudes 10 years as a middle school social studies teacher, 3 years as a grade level principal at a high school with 1,600 students in Hyde Park, NY, and 7 years as principal at two K-8 schools in rural Vermont.
Lisa Piesik will serve as principal at Challenger K-8 next year, replacing Michael Maine who will now have the challenge of improving Spring Hill Elementary’s State Grade from a D to an A as Principal. Piesik served as Principal at Powell Middle last school year, and as assistant principal at Eastside Elementary school in 2014.
Eric Williams, is now Deputy Superintendent of the Hernando County School District. He has previously served in a variety of administrative roles within the District since 2008, including Director of School Improvement and Public Information Officer. Among many other achievements, he played a significant role in gaining an $8 million federal grant. He also has been instrumental in improving school performance grades.
The Deputy Superintendent position is a new one for the school district. Some of his new responsibilities include assisting the Superintendent in overseeing all district operations and personnel, the (3) executive directors and business services, coordinatinating interdepartmental activities and managing the district’s executive team. Karen Jordan, the new PIO will begin August 3.
