Painting with a Twist: A masterpiece of your own.

For some, art is a way of therapy as well as an escape to grasp one’s own individual creativity.

At Painting with a Twist there are no rules and no intimidating terminology or techniques for the novice artist, it is a place where people can get together and enjoy creating art with a glass of wine.

The Spring Hill location opened in April of 2016 and has blossomed into a “got to do” activity for Hernando County residents.

Painting with a Twist

Aurelia Piliouras and her husband Samuel run a restaurant in Crystal River, operate a photo booth business and now own the Painting with a Twist Spring Hill location. The couple looked into franchise opportunities after Aurelia Piliouras took a class and explained how much fun it was. She also explained how much she has learned from starting the business.

“There are many reasons why people come out here and paint,” Aurelia said. “I have seen several people come in for different reasons, there is one lady that has one eye, and to her this was therapy for her eye to make it stronger. I was so amazed by that.”

She also shared another story of a recent widow, and this gives her not only an outlet to be active but to make new friends.

There are many people that are interested in taking these painting classes, but many are nervous about their lack of skill. Piliouras commonly hears, “I can’t even paint a stick figure.” But you need not to worry about that.

“We have so many customers that come in very hesitant because they are afraid that their painting isn’t going to look like ours. That is the beauty of this class; we take them from the beginning to end, step by step the whole entire way,” Rachel Ford said.

Rachel Ford is the manager of the studio as well as an artist along with Autum Proctor, Samantha Rispoli and Evie Harper. Together they each bring a different background and artistic style to Painting with a Twist.

This is a great addition to other activities in Spring Hill. It is a good option for first dates or family outings.

“Make something beautiful, make it your own.” Ford said.
