On June 7, 2016, the Brooksville City Council approved the Park/Broad Street option for the connecting the Good Neighbor Trail with the Suncoast Trail. At that meeting, Vice Mayor Battista asked about right of way acquisitions and other issues. Eight days later, Gary Schraut, President of VLT, Inc., signed a quitclaim deed to the city for an 18-foot wide right of way from his commercial property on Benton Avenue. The acquired property will help the city with the development and shows local support for the Good Neighbor Trail.
