In the May 27th issue, Hernando Sun reported on the addressing error for Salishan Assisted Living Facility. Manny Pedron of the Property Appraiser’s office spoke to residents in May, informing them that their address would most likely be changed as the address of 191 Astaire Lane was out of sequence since the Salishan property is located in the 14,000 block.
Pedron had the difficult job of informing the elderly residents that their documents would have to be changed and the county would most likely not cover the costs of that. Many residents were upset when Pedron informed them of the change. He took down a list of questions, comments and complaints which he delivered to Property Appraiser John Emerson.
Mr. Emerson with input from the Sheriff’s Office determined that there are not significant safety risks in leaving the address as is and the address could remain 191 Astaire Lane. Gary Moss, Regional Manager of the Hawthorne Group which runs Salishan, is happy with the decision. He stated at the first meeting that Salishan was foremost concerned with the difficulties this would pose for residents.
