Weeki Wachee High School hosted the 2016 Championship Game for the Spring Hill Athletic Association for the 23rd season.
The three divisions are separated by age group: Division 1: 5-8, Division 2: 9-10 and Division 3: 11-13.
Six teams battled it out for their division title championship Saturday October 29th. For Division 1 the Golden Hornets beat the Gators with a 32 – 0 final score on the board. Last season Hornets were defeated by the Seminoles. This championship win certainly is giving them more momentum for next season.
“We are already putting a team together for next year and planning on keeping the core of our players together to build it all up for next season,” said Donald Roberts Jr. coach for the Golden Hornets.
For Division 2, Knights were undefeated for the 2016 season. They won over the Bucs 39-13.
For the Division 3 teams, the Eagles went up against the Predators with a winning score of 21-14.
“We have been working hard all year and we had a good season, I just think today we were out coached. We just didn’t bring out the best game today,” Coach Jimmy Allen of the Predators said. “Next year we will be strong…got to keep working.”
“We had a rough season through all the injuries but we kept on the boys never to stop and never give up. It doesn’t matter what the records were going into the playoffs, it matters what you do in the playoffs. The boys never gave up,” Screaming Eagles Coach Tyler said. “Great group of kids I wish I could coach them all again.
