Kevin Daugherty presented a Federal Grant request for repairs to Taxiway “Bravo” at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport (BKV). The taxiway, which runs along the east side of BKV, was designed in 1986 and constructed in 1987. In 2015, it was declared to be in poor condition by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and will require extensive repairs.
To complete this project, the FAA has offered funding assistance in the amount of $1,382,517 from their Airport Improvement Program to complete the project.
Traffic will be redirected in an estimated five phases while the construction is underway, to ensure businesses and tenants along that southeast corridor have access to their buildings. According to Mr. Daugherty, this is a necessary process is repeated every twenty years.
The estimated length of the project is 120 days. Approval to move forward with the official grant request was unanimous.
